Minimum Wages 2025 in the Swiss Hospitality Industry: What Changes and What It Means for Professionals

The year 2025 brings significant changes for the hotel and restaurant industry in Switzerland. Despite the efforts of social partners to reach an agreement on minimum wages, negotiations did not lead to a consensus. This made it necessary for the arbitration tribunal at the Supreme Court of the Canton of Bern to intervene, which on January 13 established the new minimum wages as binding.

A Moderate but Significant Increase

Starting from February 1, 2025, minimum wages will increase by 1.1%, in line with the average annual inflation rate. Although moderate, this adjustment is an important step in ensuring fairer and more sustainable working conditions for industry professionals. For seasonal contracts, the increase will take effect at the start of the summer season, on May 1, 2025.
